Building Community
International family

Shaped by glaciers that came and went, riddled with lakes and gorges, Ithaca is at once a transient and deeply-rooted society. The farming families that have cultivated the green fields for generations share food and space with the constant flow of students from all over the world. Many come for the universities, and leave with a part of the area’s vibrant culture remaining with them. Others decide to stay, despite the winter winds and cloudy skies. There is something about this town for the flower child and the physicist, the activist and the businessperson. We find comfort in the bustle of the Book Sale, roar of the Falls, steady rhythm of Cayuga lake, the quiet contemplation from a hilltop. We live here and choose to be present with the wine, local produce, surrounded by images from local artists and natural beauty.

Below are some resources to aid your transition into our beautiful town. You’ll find resources on where to buy groceries, entertainment spots, outdoor activities and much more. Let us know if what you are looking for is not on this list and we'll add it!
